PROLOGUE

“You can’t do this, its murder!” Chiron’s voice echoed through the great hall as he looked around at the faces that stared back at him. The great hall was a large circular room with twelve mahogany chairs. “It’s a necessary act, no one wants to do this, but this sacrifice will save many more lives and protect our people now and for generations to come, we need to end this curse.” Samuel sighed as he stood and walked to Chiron who was standing in the centre of the great hall. “I know how difficult this will be for you, it will be difficult for a great many people who will lose their loved ones, but you have seen all the death and destruction they can cause if the evil in them is brought out, we all thought this was a gift to our people given by the gods, but now we know it’s a curse. We know the darkness is not in them all, well maybe not a first but we can’t risk innocent lives on a hope that they won’t turn, we need to protect our people, I’m sorry my friend.”
“Not all of them are bad, not all of them deserve to be punished for the actions of others,”
“We can’t risk the lives of the rest of our people on the hope that some of them may not kill, the truth is that they all have the evil inside them and we must eliminate every trace of it” Samuel returned back to his chair and sat down, Chiron was furious he stormed out of the great hall and left the temple.

Chiron walked with haste through the streets where soldiers were pulling people from their homes, all of these people were known to be afflicted by the curse. He ran passed all of the chaos but right now and alone he could do nothing for the poor souls as right now his thoughts were only on the safety of his own family, on his own son who had the curse. Chiron tried to drown out the screams and cries of the people as he ran by, he felt helpless and ashamed that he was allowing it to happen.

He reached the gates to his home which were open and as he entered the courtyard was deserted, not one servant in sight and he headed towards the front door which was also open and stepped through the threshold. He noticed that the house was ransacked, there was furniture broken and lying on the floor and as like in the courtyard there was no sight of any of the servants or his family. Chiron realized he was too late, he council acted on their plan too early and he knew they planned this so he couldn’t do anything to stop it. Chiron took a deep breath and left the house heading back towards the temple.

On the route back to the temple he walked slowly and he took out his sword and this time he didn’t just go passed the screaming families he walked up to the nearest soldier that was dragging along a young girl. “Release the girl!” the soldier stopped and looked at Chiron.
“My lord, we have our orders, we are to arrest and detain all of the cursed.” Two other soldiers came up from behind the first. “Let her go, you don’t want to be responsible for the death of a child, that’s what they have planned for them” The two soldiers stepped forward and took out their weapons, the first soldier sighed “I’m sorry sir, but this is for the good of our people, the cursed are just to dangerous to be left among us.” Chiron raised his sword higher intending on attacking the soldiers.

"Stop" Galvic walked up from behind Chiron, "Stop my friend, put down your sword." He placed his hand on Chiron’s to help lower his sword and Chiron just stood silent as Galvic stepped in front of him and faced the soldiers. "Please forgive my friend, he is not himself today. I am sure we can all forget this little mishap, do you agree?" Galvic smiled at the soldiers and they stepped back and nodded.
"Take him away and see that he gets his senses back." Galvic pulled Chiron away from the soldiers and headed back down the street, "Gal, they acted on their plan early, while they had me occupied because they knew I would not allow them to take my son, I was too late." Galvic stopped
"Your son is safe," Chiron stopped and turned to him.
"What?"
"I got your son and your wife out before the soldiers came to your home, they are safe."
"How? The council acted early? We had no warning, no time." Galvic smiled,
"I have someone on the inside who found out the council's plan and when it would put into place but there was no time to find you as you were with the council and any interruption may have made them aware we knew so I acted and got your family and a few others out of the city before they could be taken." Chiron held out his hand and Galvic took it with a smile, "I owe you my friend, thank you but once they realize they don't have my son they will come looking for him and will deem me and anyone seen helping me a traitor" Galvic laughed,
"Don’t worry my friend I am in this with you until the end, come let us go to your family." Chiron nodded and they both headed out of the city with haste.
This is a re-written version of the Prologue for my story.
